FORH Logo Contest Winner Announced

The Friends of the Refuge Headwaters announces Michelle Dunkin as the winner of their recent logo contest.

As the grand prize winner Dunkin will receive a $100 cash prize and her logo will become the official Friends logo to be used for all correspondence and future merchandise. All entries submitted will be on display at the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge, 51 E 4th St., Winona, MN.

Dunkin’s logo design captured the mission of the Friends of the Refuge Headwaters group of supporting the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge goals. She describes her logo as “producing an all encompassing feeling of closeness with nature.”

Friends of the Refuge Headwaters is a new citizen based, non-profit organization formed to support the Winona District of the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge through volunteer initiatives. The group works to meet the refuge’s vision and goals through maintaining: landscape; environmental health; wildlife and habitat; wildlife-dependent public use; other recreational use; and administration and operations. The Winona District goes from Wabasha, Minnesota, to Lock and Dam No. 6.
